My name is Stephanie Swims and I will be your child’s Kindergarten teacher this year. I am looking forward to working with you and your child over the next several months.I am proud to say that I am a product of the Jackson City School System. I attended Andrew Jackson, Highland Park and Lincoln Elementary Schools, Parkway Junior High and I am a graduate of Jackson Central-Merry High School. I have a B.S. in Education from Union University.
I have been married for 21 years. I have two children: a son, who is 18 and a freshman at Bethel University, and a daughter, who is 15 and is a sophomore at Madison Academic High School.
I have 19 years experience in the classroom. While this is only my seventh year in the Jackson-Madison County School System, I previously taught for 12 years in Haywood County where I was K-3 Teacher of the Year in 2002.
I hope that you will make the commitment along with me; to at all times do what is best for the children in our class. While you are most concerned with your individual child, I have to make decisions based on how behavior and actions will affect everyone in the classroom. I will always act in our class’ best interest. This means however, that a few students will not be allowed to disrupt our instruction time, and I will take the necessary steps to maintain order and discipline. Please support our class by encouraging your child to maintain their best behavior and impress upon your child that misbehavior at school will have consequences at home.
If you have any questions, or need to contact me, please do not hesitate to call or email me with your concerns.
